EPULSUS®

The EPULSUS® is a registered trademark, from EnergyPulse Systems, Lda, of high performance pulse generators, based on semiconductor Marx generator topologies, proposed for commercial applications where the efficient use of energy, in the shape of precise repetitive energy pulses, is the optimal way to accomplish the best results.

EPULSUS® Generators for Biomedical and Biotechnological applications

SiC MOSFET technology in Marx modulators designed, delivering fast monopolar and/or bipolar square repetitive burst pulse trains, in symmetric, asymmetric or multilevel operation, from 200ns pulse width, with flexible burst frequency and programmed overcorrect protection. All generators include software, which enables pulse protocol configuration, for each channel independently. External triggering is possible, also, for burst timing. The generator includes cables and connectors required to be installed on site.

EPULSUS-FBM1-5, standard 10 kV /50 A, 200 W electroporation generator, including two positive pulse generators, able to deliver symmetric monopolar and bipolar pulses to a biological type load.

EPULSUS-FBML1-5, standard 5 kV /50 A, 200 W electroporation generator, including two positive pulse generators, able to deliver asymmetric monopolar and bipolar pulses, including multilevel, to a biological type load.

EPULSUS-FPM4-10, standard 10 kV /50 A, 100 W electroporation generator, including four positive pulse generators, able to deliver asymmetric monopolar and bipolar pulses, 200ns minimum pulse duration and 2.5MHz burst capability. Possibility to connect independent PS for each channel.

EPULSUS®-Generators for agro-food applications

Si IGBT technology in Marx modulators designed, delivering monopolar and/or bipolar square repetitive pulses, from 2µs pulse width, with flexible repletion rate, up to 24 kV and 18 kW, applicable from laboratory, pilot plant to industrial environments. All generators include software, which enables pulse protocol configuration, and treatment chambers design to customer needs. All the generators have CE marking.

The generator types have references as (#1)M(#2)(#3)-(#4), where M indicates solid-state Marx generator, and:

  • #1, can be P or B for positive and bipolar output pulses, respectively;
  • #2 can be 1, 3 or 6 for 3k W, 9 kW and 18 kW output average power, respectively;
  • #3 can be A, B or C for 250 A, 500 A and 1 kA output pulse current, respectively;
  • #4 can be 12 or 24 for 12 kV and 24 kV output pulse voltage, respectively;

The best selling laboratory/pilot plant generators, normally include specifications up to 12 kV and 3 kW:

  • PM1A-12, PM1B-12, BM1A-12, PM1B-12

For example, a bipolar 12 kV, 250A and 3kW generator is the BM1A-12: Datasheet_EPULSUS-BM1A-12

The best selling industrial generators, normally include specifications up to 24 kV and 9 kW:

  • PM3B-12, PM3B-24, BM3B-12, BM3B-24

For example, a positive 24 kV, 500 A and 9 kW generator is the PM3B-24: Datasheet

A typical 15 kV / 80 A waveform for bipolar pulse operation is shown here: Datasheet_EPULSUS-PM3B-24

Pulsed Electric Field systems

All the generators can be installed with different types of Pulsed Electric Field, PEF, systems, including treatment chambers, TC, in order to fulfill the customer needs:

  • The basic TC is a batch type, with 1 L volume, with flexible parallel electrodes for different volumes and electric fields;
  • For liquids colinear and parallel electrodes treatment chamber are offered, typical diameters range from 10 to 100 mm;
  • For crushed fruit and vegetables, musts and other pumped products, such as micro algae, grapes, olives, colinear and parallel electrodes treatment chamber are offered, typical diameters range from 40 to 120 mm;
  • For solid food products, such as potatoes, transportation systems can be requested.
